Nyika National Park, located in Malawi's Northern Region, is renowned for its rolling grasslands and unique high-altitude landscapes, making it an excellent destination for wildlife enthusiasts and hikers. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including zebras, antelopes, and over 400 bird species. Access is by road, with a 4x4 vehicle highly recommended due to the challenging terrain, especially during the rainy season from November to April when some areas may be inaccessible. It's best to visit from May to October, when the weather is dry and cool. Day trips can be rewarding, but staying overnight in one of the park's lodges, such as Chelinda Camp, enhances the experience. While self-guided tours are possible, hiring a local guide can provide valuable insight into the park's flora and fauna. Entry fees range around $10-20 per person, with additional costs for guided tours. Allot at least two days to explore the park's vast landscapes thoroughly.
